Jay & Parker's Road to Recovery

On Wednesday August 31st 2016 Jay (42) and Parker (6) were at home getting ready to have dinner when the unthinkable happened, their home in Quesnel, BC exploded around them. Jay instinctively grabbed his son and ran out of the home through the intense flame and heat. He managed to get Parker outside then went back in to save his dog. They were immediatley taken to the Hospital where they were deemed priority and were quickly airlifted to Vancouver where Parker was taken to the ICU unit of Childrens Hospital and Jay to ICU in Vancouver General Hospital.
Both Jay and Parker sustained major burns to their backs, legs, arms, heads, hands and feet. Basically everywhere but their stomachs. Jay will require skin grafts to his legs and arms, his hands are very bad but should heal over time. Their air ways and lungs seem to have been spared from the heat and flames.
Jay had no contents insurance and has lost everything he has worked his life for. Jay has months of healing ahead of him and we anticipate he will be in the Lower Mainland for quite some time.
We are looking to raise money to purchase him the neccessities he will need for his recovery. Since he lost everything we need to start at the bottom.
We would like to get Jay and Parker iPads as soon as possible so that they can communicate with each other while in their ICU rooms. Jay is having a horrible time because he has not seen his son yet and he will not be able to for quite some time as they both need time to heal. This way they can at least see and talk to each other until they are able to physically be together again. The money raised will also go towards his bills and any other costs that come up along his road to recovery.
Both Jay and Parker are strong willed individuals and will get through this over time. They both have so many friends and family that want to help and that is why we created this page. Jay is such a wonderful father to Parker and he is OUR HERO for saving his sons life.
Both Jay's and Parker's families are so thankful for the dedicated nurses and doctors at VGH and Childrens hospitals that tirelessly watch over them in this, their time of need.
