Valencia Garrett Medical Fund

Hello, my name is Valencia Garrett.  I am a Chicago native - born and raised.  I am a mother to a beautiful 4 year old boy (named Demonty).  I am a student.  I am passionate about my work. I am funny, creative, strong, and determined to provide a better life for me and my son.

Late  Friday (8/26/16) night, I arrived at my friend's home to assist with some interior renovations.  Upon exiting my vehical I was shot 8 times by persons currently unknown and at large.  I was airlifted to the trauma unit at Cook County Hospital, where I received surgery to remove 1 of the bullets that was lodged in my pelvis.

Thanks to the efforts of the amazing medical team, I am doing great and should be released shortly to the care of my family.  I consider myself so lucky that to be able leave with stitches, staples, and a broken arm (that will most likely require an additional surgery down the road).

At this point, I don't know how long recovery will take, how much it will cost, or when I'll be able to return to work.

I'm creating this page in hopes of receiving help with my bills and medical expenses.  Any amount will help.  Thank you for your consideration and support!  There are no words to express the depths of my appreciation.
