Nicholas aka Nick Nick, was recovering from spinal surgery (magnetic rod placement) at Egleston Children’s Hospital 8/26. Shawn noticed that Nick-Nick had stopped breathing at 7:00 PM 8/26. It took the doctors over 30 minutes to regain a pulse, with many high doses of epinephrine. The doctors ran numerous tests to figure out how to revive Nick-Nick while he stayed on life support. However, Nick did not respond to the tests in a way that showed any signs of recovery.
Jennifer was being faced with the hardest decision no parent should have to try to think about much less potentially do, taking Nick off life support. Thankfully, Jennifer did not make that heart breaking decision. However, Nicholas did pass away at the young age of 11 in Jennifer's arms.
Before Nick passed he was surrounded by love. Nick-Nick may not have been alert, but I have faith that he knew we were all praying for his recovery and he knew we all wanted him healed and happy.
Nick-Nick is now healed and in a beautiful place, where he can run and be without back pains. He is about to say everything he has been wanting to. It warms our hearts to know that his beautiful soul is in heaven, safe for suffering.
We all miss you terribly Nick-Nick, your random giggles, your sweet kisses on a lady's hand and the way you ran around with your cape flapping in the wind. Nicholas was so much more than a sweet boy. He is an inspiration to every heart he touched.
Jennifer was a Communications Specialist in the US Army Reserve. She was expected to go to Iraq, but due to being pregnant with Nicholas eleven years ago, she didn’t have to go and has been a catering mother ever since.
Shawn, Jennifer's husband & Kionna, Jennifer's Step-Daughter, have been a blessing in Jennifer and Nicholas' life. They helped Nick-Nick enjoy life is so many ways.
In preparation of the funeral arrangements and for financial assistance through this heart-breaking process, any amount of loving donations would be greatly appreciated.
