Help Syrian Refugees Survive Winter

Donation protected
57,000 Syrian refugees are still trapped in Greece -- many in fields and abandoned factories, and at our own camp of Ritsona, a forest. Fall rains and winter cold are coming fast, and we need your help today.

Last week, the video of a ghostly and injured young Omran Daqneesh once again put the lingering Syrian crisis back on the front page. But here in Greece, a year after a young boy washed up on a Turkish shore, the volume of the crisis has never diminished.

We've spent the last 2 months volunteering with 600 refugees, providing them food, water, clothing, and vital hygiene items throughout the Summer. We are American citizens working with a team of volunteers, and raising this money to subsidize the important projects going on here.

Like Omran, many of the children in our rural refugee camp of Ritsona survived aerial bombing, ISIS invasion, deprivation, physical assault and more. These 180 families once hoped that their time here in Greece would be just a pitstop on their path to Western Europe. But as they enter their sixth month in our camp, they face the fact that their time in these drafty and exposed tents has no definite end.

The weather is already changing and we aren't yet ready. Scorching summer temperatures are giving way to clouds, chilly nights and a terrifying possibility of torrential rain. According to  experts here, a single hard rain could severely damage all electricity and waste drainage. There is work to be done -- our central warehouse and facilities must be made weatherproof so that critical supplies and food are not ruined by coming storms and cold. And we need to start accruing food and supplies now.

Every cent we receive will be used to ensure our 180 refugee families remain healthy and safe through the difficult months ahead.

We are buying waterproof and insulated flooring for the hundreds of tents! This is one example of the simple but necessary improvements the tents need as the refugees wait for isoboxes.

-- $18 will ensure a family has blankets as temperatures drop.
-- $20 provides a refugee vital waterproof boots for mud and rain.

-- $50 ensures an entire family has warm and weather-ready clothing for Fall and Winter.
-- $100 pays for one week's trucking of vital food and health items to our warehouse.
-- $500 will provide a refrigerator for perishable items.
-- $1000+ will secure the refugees' food and supplies against rain, cold and pests.
