Help NYC Students Rebuild After the 201 W 107th Street Fire

In the early morning hours of December 9th, a devastating fire tore through the building at 201 W 107th Street. My friends—full-time students in New York City—lived directly beneath the floor where the main flames erupted- Their unit (8) on the fourth floor

suffered severe damage, leaving them displaced and uncertain about their next steps.

They had just moved into this apartment in August 2024, excited to begin a new chapter together. Now, they are temporarily staying with the Red Cross while they search for a new place to live. Everything they owned was inside the apartment, including clothes, homeware, textbooks, technology, and irreplaceable sentimental tokens from their loved ones. It’s still unclear what, if anything, can be recovered. They received an unfortunate update the night after the flames were put out, stating that most of their belongings would not be salvageable due to the flames, asbestos, and mold.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help them rebuild from the ground up—replacing essential belongings, covering emergency costs, and securing safe housing so they can regain stability and continue their studies and rebuild their home without the weight of this unfortunate event.

The funds raised will be allocated to secure:

• Long-term housing

• furniture and appliances

• Clothing

Any amount, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference as Madeline, Melody, Tatiana, and Tatiana work to rebuild their lives. In a city as expensive as NYC, please help these girls find a new home this holiday season.
