U19 Rugby - Florida Juice Travel Team
The Florida U19 All Star Rugby Team (also known as the Florida Juice Team in
honor of one of our sponsors), is represented by the top 24 High School Rugby
Players in the State. Every year representative teams such as this team, gather
at some venue to play for the National Challenge Cup. This year the tournament
is being held in Pittsburgh, PA over the period Jun 14-17, 2013. This is a very
prestigious event where the National Selectors and College Scouts gather to
invite/recruit the next crop of Eagles - the National Rugby Team that partakes
in the Rugby World Cup being played every four years.
Rugby is the fastest growing sport in the USA today. This is fueled by the
prospects of young players to be selected to take part in the the 2016 Olympic
Games, when Rugby will be once again take its rightful place as an Olympic
Sport. The last time Rugby was featured was at the Paris Games in 1924, where
the USA Rugby Team was crowned the Champions. Despite this rapid growth of Rugby, funding for the sport is severely
lacking at all levels, especially at school level. This is where you can make a
difference!
Our goal is to raise the $10,000 needed by Jun 3,
2013. This will allow us to
defray the costs for the team to less than $100.00/player. For every $25
raised, the cost to the player drops by $1.50. All donations are tax
deductible and all donors will receive an official receipt with the
appropriate tax id.
