Friends of the North Shore are coming together in a big way to help a local family.

Covid-19 has brought new challenges to our community, one being rental housing. Although great for our economy the housing boom has created new demand for existing rental properties and they are being sold and repurposed. This has left families unable to locate a place to live.

Quincy and Elaine Heighton are one such family. They, with their four small children are unable to find a place to rent or buy within budget and have been trying to make due, temporarily living in a local motel room.

They have plans to build a modest house on their land outside the village, but need a helping hand. Friends of the North Shore are getting together to help. Volunteers have come forward quickly, with contractors offering assistance for the septic system, well drilling, foundation and framing. They have all stepped up to volunteer their time and labour costs. As well many local businesses are helping and will continue to help. However with the increased costs of building materials we are asking for our small but mighty community to donate what they can to ensure this project can be completed, and completed in a timely fashion. Let`s show this family that sometimes it really does “take a village”. Please donate what you can.
