Clemente R. Montes was a funny, sweet, warm hearted man, who showed love and kindness to everyone. He was a great husband and a father of four, who worked hard his entire life. He still had many goals he wished to accomplish but was unfortunately diagnosed with Liver disease and needed a liver transplant. He suffered many different situations with kidney stones, carpel tunnel surgery on both hands and one foot, and many more. He went from being a licensed contractor, to construction and lastly a class-A truck driver. He struggled with his health for many years, and if it wasn't one symptom it was another. His family has always been by his side, through all his tribulations. Towards the end of him dealing with this illness for nine years, the severity of it had increased, which sent him to the top of the liver transplant list. He was on the list for three and a half years before he got his transplant in August 12th, 2013. He was in the hospital in recovery for six months after his transplant. Clemente recovered slower than most liver transplant patients, because of sternness of his ailing sickness. He was sent home after his recovery just in time to celebrate Christmas with his loving and supportive family. Shortly after, during a rehabilitation session, his knee gave out and he had fractured his knee cap which sent him back to the hospital. While recuperating in the hospital, he had developed anxiety which caused his heart to go into a high Atrial Fibrillation, or in short an A-Fib, which translates to an irregular heart rhythm. The doctors were unable to control his A-Fib in which sent him back to the ICU. Going through many tests to figure out what was triggering his A-Fib he had developed an infection in his stomach. After a series of antibiotics he was still testing positive for infection. The doctors were unable to locate the exact location of his infection. This led them to inject him with an iodine contrast that helped the doctors locate the infection with a CAT scan, but only after the third CT scan were they able to determine the infection. His health had deteriorated critically during this process. He needed surgery to remove the infection from the outside of his right lung. The infection was not permitting his right lung to expand which gave him respiratory complications. In his critical condition, this surgery would put him at a high risk. If the infection had not been removed immediately would have resulted in his lung working at a 30% capacity for the rest of his life. He had surgery on March 3rd, 2014. After this surgery, his incision was bleeding profusely which was not allowing his blood to clot and lowered his blood pressure. He was on five different blood pressure medications which is the maximum dosage he can take. The doctors did not think that Clemente was going to last through the night yet alone five days after the surgery. They thought his heart was going to fail that night after his surgery. Clemente's will to live exceeded the doctor's expectations. His will to live was so powerful, he fought through this more then doctors could believe. He passed away on March 7th, 2014. He was a great man and was loved by many and will be missed by all. He is with God now in the Lord's kingdom watching over all his friends and family. I believe in God's promise that we will meet again one day after this life for eternity.
