Hello,
My name is Da'Juan Gay I am a first generation college student residing in Annapolis,MD. This fall I will be attending The University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne,Md. Many of you may be confused as to why I'm switching schools so I'll fill you in.
I originally attended Slippery Rock University (Political Science Major, GPA 3.2) in Slippery Rock, PA it was my dream school I knew immediately after visiting the school my junior of high school on a class avid trip that I wanted to be there! Of course I was nervous the area is EXTREMLY different a school surrounded by corn fields and mountains something that took time to get used to, but my desire to succeed and gain the education that no one else in my family had been able to obtain far outstretched my nerves. Although far outside of my financial budget by thousands of dollars I gambled on myself and I decided it was the right place for me until I was racial attacked in my dorm room on November 5th of 2015, this event had a lasting impact on my academic career. After I decided to exit Slippery Rock University I set my mind to attending Anne Arundel County Community College (Political Science Major, GPA 3.3) where I stayed for one semester. I now have found the perfect college for me! The University of Maryland Eastern Shore here I will focus on a dual degree and dual major in Sociology and Social Work with a double minor in Public Policy and of course Political Science. I have received over $2,500 in scholarships and grants and I've exhausted every loan option, I am still coming up short. I pay for my college education with the help of no one and I have worked 2 jobs the entire summer. I have saved enough to add $1,500 to my education I am asking that you give what you can to invest in my education. I can only repay you by investing my time in our community and trying to make a difference. Thank you very much for your time!
