Hey all! Hopefully this is the last time I have to do this:

Many of you know me as the loud and bombastic Clarkisha Kent, or the elusive Lex Luther, or by my Earthly tethers of "Alex".

And many of you bravely and kindly assisted me and boosted my last campaign when it came to making sure I was able to successfully move my country arse from Tennessee to California.

Amazingly, we are just THREE months shy of it being a year since I moved here and even though the beginning was like really rough (like seriously, I’m still a little shell-shocked at the differences in cost of living), I’m still here! And I’m getting my name out there and making connections like I promised I would.

But I need help staying here. As some of you know, I’ve had to spend the last nine months living in Orange County...which hasn’t been fun (Exhibit A ), wasn’t really a choice when I first got here (everyone who rents was moving very...funny...about me being from out-of-state, if you catch my drift), and commuting to LA every other day from where I am is killer.

The good news, however, is that I’m moving pretty soon actually. But need some help. My job situation still isn’t quite where it needs to be (I’m still freelancing, but I AM working on something that will change that soon, it just won’t be ready in time for my move ), I have even less resources than when I last move because I finally had to swallow me pride and cut ties with ALL my abusive family members (including my sister ),  and with certain publications and outlets thinking that paying me—or any freelancer for that matter—on-time is optional, I figured I should get ahead of this so I’m not scrambling in the eleventh hour. Plus there is the fact that I am leaving before my current lease here in Orange is up and it’s going to cost me extra $$$ as a result. 

This fund in particular is to help me pay the remaining balance for my security deposit, my first month’s rent, moving truck cost and the hefty lease-breaking fee I’ve been ordered to pay—to the tune of 1,500. 

Yeah, so not pretty, but surviving never is. Anything helps!

2. Do you know where you'll be moving?

Pasadena (which has been infinitely less racist and hostile to me), ironically thanks to a pretty cool Twitter friend.

4. Will you update us as move-in day gets closer?

Yup. That I shall and people who are subscribed to my Patron are about to get an even longer post about this.

5. What happens if you exceed your goal?

While 2,630 is just rough estimate of what I might need based on deposits, moving fees, storage fees, lease-breaking fees and, etc, I shouldn’t need more than that. And if I do exceed it, I would most likely cap it off at 2,800 and then shut it down. I don’t want to take up space from folx that really need it.
