Hello, everybody. If you are not aware, we here at the Inn on Shipyard Park have been contending with seemingly endless litigation from one of our neighbors.
The first lawsuit is challenging a unanimous decision by the Zoning Board that would allow us to rebuild and expand our front porch. The expansion is 150 square feet larger than the current porch. The intent is to beautify the porch, while also making it more accessible and easier to traverse. This decision is being appealed to the Superior Court as the neighbor feels the expansion would be a "detriment" to the neighborhood.
Most recently, we had another unanimous Zoning Board ruling. They ruled that we are not operating as a nightclub, but instead as an inn/restaurant/bar that also holds an entertainment license. Based on this ruling, we anticipate another appeal to the Superior Court by this neighbor.
These suits are not only costly, but they affect our business in many unsettling ways. A number of residents have suggested we start this GoFundMe page. Although we hope to be self-funded when defending ourselves against these lawsuits, the cost of doing so continues to rise.
What we hope to accomplish with this campaign is to have it act more as a petition that demonstrates the support of all the people who love The Inn! We are hopeful that when these lawsuits are behind us, we may resume our focus on offering our patrons the experience they expect from The Inn! We thank you for your continued support.
