See The World To Change The World
My name is Kibbs Fortilus and I am a Sociology Major at The College of the Holy Cross. I LOVE TEACHING! I work as a Substitute Teacher when I come home for Christmas Break and I have worked in various non-profits every summer of my college career. The summer of my Freshman year, I went to Haiti after the Earthquake and I worked at an orphanage , in my Sophomore year I went to Camden, New Jersey (the poorest and most dangerous city in the United States) and I worked for a summer camp ran by the non-profit organization Urban Promise, and in the summer of my Junior year I worked for Upward Bound, a college orientated non-profit organization for low income and first generation students.
I am currently funding money to travel to Tamil Nadu, India to teach at an orphanage. I will be going to India through a non-profit called WorldTeach. I am raising money to pay for my plane ticket, my health insurance, and miscellaneous expanses. When in India, I will be residing at the same orphanage in which I'll be teaching. So my room and board will be covered, and I will also receive monthly payment for my work.
However, my experience, if you are able to contribute, will be priceless. I will gain a different perspective of the world. I will be be challenged, I will be able to grow by stepping out of my comfort zone, and I will learn as much from the students as I'll be teaching them. I hope that you will be able to support me financially. If you are unable to, please spread the word. If attention is drawn to my cause than the chances of someone supporting me will increase.
Thank you very much,
Kibbs
