Who we are: WGRN LP 94.1 is a low-power FM radio station located in Columbus, Ohio. WGRN LP 94.1 is a Project of the Central Ohio Green Education Fund and a non-profit,  100% volunteer-driven, low power community radio station that initiated operations in April 2016. WGRN LP 94.1 is a Pacifica Radio Network affiliate. WGRN LP 94.1 features women-guided programming, airing women's voices and programming committed to the environment, sustainability, community, social justice, cultural diversity and an eclectic mix of non-commercial music & arts meant to advance and enhance quality of life in our listening community. WGRN LP 94.1 promotes the Key Green Values, which are based on the Four Core Principles of Ecological wisdom, Social justice, Grassroots democracy, and Nonviolence.

Our ultimate goal is to engage the community to engage in itself, to help enhance and enrich the cultural life of those within our listening reach in Central Ohio, and to empower them with unbiased information, local, national and international news and public affairs and life-enhancing music and arts for those who cannot afford an Internet connection but do have radios. We also would like to engage those online who live in global community.

We are raising money to help cover our start-up costs which involves being able to pay for our streaming license so we can reach an even wider audience online, but more importantly, to reach an underserved community that is not online: to build our studio so we can do live broadcast with talent drawn from our own community who would not otherwise have access to equipment to produce local news and public affairs about their own community. We also need studio and office software to help run our operations. Until we have the basics for getting on the air we can't even dream of staying on the air.

We are a community  radio start-up starting from scratch with volunteer resources, and limited funding. Some funding has been made available but it is not enough for start-up. Many of our present expenses  are in addition to the start-up costs we must meet. We need the funds by the Fall of 2016 to get our studio built. Right now our programming is automated only, and we do not yet have an Internet stream to help build our audience reach.

This means everything to those who conceived WGRN who want to give voice to the voiceless in our community who are ignored by commercial media. Radio is a perfect way to connect to a marginalized community underserved by commercial media. Often, these people are women and children. WGRN wants to give these women and children radio that will enrich and empower their lives.

We are so grateful for anything you can give. Start up costs are the hardest hurdle for non-profit community radio. Your contribution means that we will have a chance first, to get on the air. Staying on the air then becomes the next challenge. Your helping us get over this first hurdle is the difference between getting on the air or not getting on the air at all.
