Help support Babies & Families at Sunderland NICU

Hi Everyone,

We are fundraising for Sunderland Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They are a specialist unit that delivers the highest level of care to poorly & premature babies. Our baby Girl Alora was born at 24 weeks & 4 days weighing 1lb 2oz (529g) and has so far spent the first 6 weeks of her life in Sunderland NICU. When Alora was born we were told she had a 50% survival rate.

With the amazing life saving care she has received from the Doctors & Nurses at Sunderland NICU we will be hopefully welcoming her home in the next couple of weeks, Without them this would not be possible. 

We could simply never repay or show our gratitude to the unit so we decided we wanted to give back something that will benefit other Babies & Families spending time in the NICU.

We have asked the Unit how we can help, the unit provide Heartbeat teddy bears,foot/hand prints,diaries to document your journey & breastfeeding equipment for parents. Teddies/comforters,blankets,muslins & clothes for babies all of which is not funded by the NHS and is reliant on donations. We want all families & babies to be able to receive these things as it has played a big part in helping us along our journey. 

They are also currently in the process of updating the unit and want to make the rooms for the babies less clinical and more baby friendly by decorating it and creating themed rooms, this will also need to be funded by donations. 

We are asking friends and family to donate however big or small every penny will help towards giving back to this amazing team!
