Castle MCR Charity Ball 2021

Donation protected
On Saturday 21st August 2021, Castle MCR are planning on holding the annual Castle Charity Ball ‘The Crystal Ball’ in Durham Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Castle MCR, the Middle Common Room at University College, is the second largest Postgraduate Common Room in the University which provides social, welfare, academic and development opportunities for hundreds of masters and PhD students. Our ball will have up to 500 attendees and will offer guests a fantastical evening of feasting and enchanting entertainment!

As part of our efforts for this year’s Castle Charity Ball we are looking for donors who would be interested in kindly supporting us with this important initiative, which will raise money for our chosen charities: Durham Foodbank, ARCH North East and CCA (Castle Community Action).

Durham Foodbank has grown rapidly in both its coverage of County Durham and the numbers fed since it started almost ten years ago. Durham Foodbank provides three days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are in crisis so that no one has to go hungry. This charity is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. For more information, please visit: https://durham.foodbank.org.uk/

ARCH North East is a sexual violence service offering free and confidential support to people who have experienced rape and sexual abuse, at any point in their lives. This charity has over 21 years-experience of delivering such services, and is now the largest provider of sexual violence support for survivors in Teesside. ARCH North East is part of the Rape Crisis England and Wales network, with all of their services accredited under the RCEW National Service Standards. For more information, please visit: https://www.archnortheast.org/

Castle Community Action (CCA) is a committee in our college that promotes positive interaction between Castle Students and members of the wider Durham Community. CCA has several divisions which run regular volunteering sessions, as well as the Community Days division which runs one-off events and invites local residents into the Castle. For more information, please visit: https://castlejcr.com/castle-community-action/

At our Mythos Ball (2020) and Camelot Ball (2019) we were really proud to raise £3500 and £4600 respectively for charitable causes. With you supporting us, we hope that we will be able to exceed last year’s donation and together offer the above charities some much needed financial support after a difficult year for so many.

As for the donation itself, if you would like to make one, this will be split equally between our three chosen charities. Moreover, to show our gratitude for your generosity, we will ensure to give thanks for your donation across all communication platforms and in our event programme.

On behalf of the entire Castle Charity Ball Committee, we thank you in advance for considering donating to our initiative.

If you have any questions about making a charitable donation, please do not hesitate to contact us at: [email redacted].uk.
