Buddy Bike For Our Buddy

BUDDY BIKE for our BUDDY QUINN! 

In less than one month I am participating in the South Beach Triathlon. This year to support my cousin Quinn who is dear to our family.  So many of you showed your support last year for St. Judes and I hope this year you will be inspired to help Quinn.

Quinn is 21 and has never been able to go for a Bike ride.  

His mother Micheline told me "Most parents have had the pleasure of teaching their child to ride a bike, and have seen the joy on their faces as they cruise the streets. But our son has not had that experience. He didn't have the skills, so he just had to be a bystander." 

Quinn was born with a rare disorder called Agenesis of Corpus Callosum (ACC). He is missing the part of the brain that connects both hemispheres. This causes him to be developmentally delayed, non verbal, visually impaired, have low muscle tone and several other issues.

Although the doctors told our family that he would never do much of anything, Quinn has always tried to prove them wrong. His milestones came slowly, but the joy that he brought to our family, was definitely more than we ever anticipated. Quinn has made the people around him more compassionate, understanding and more loving than we ever thought possible.

Quinn loves to be outside, so much so that when he sees the sunshine he says "GO". The only way Quinn can enjoy the outdoors is in his wheelchair until we found Buddy Bike. This is a tandem bike made for special needs people so that they can get exercise. The parent or other rider is actually the one in control, while the special person can pedal also. Unfortunately, these bikes are very expensive. We all would love for this angel and blessing to have his first bike so that he can enjoy life like the rest of us. A special guy like him, deserves something special!"

On April 7th during the Nautica South Beach Triathlon I will be swimming, running and riding my bike to help Quinn ride his own bike for the very first time!
