Help Send Tara to Rwanda!

Dear Friends and Family,


I'm excited about the amazing opportunity I've gotten to travel to Rwanda this summer as part of a human rights delegation with the Global Youth Connect (GYC). I will be working as a peacemaker along side other US university students and Rwandan students, in order to facilitate cross-cultural dialogue, minimize the threat of mass violence, and positively impact the work of nongovernmental organizations and policy makers. This is especially important to me since my studies and passions are directed in Peace Psychology and the prevention of ethnic conflict. Global Youth Connect has annually taken trips to Bosnia, Rwanda, and several Central American countries in hopes to develop cross-cultural communication between youths of all ages, nationalities, and religions.

Specifically my interest are in learning more about and contributing to (a) providing psychological rehabilitation, support, as well as economic alternatives/self-sufficiency for girls in Rwanda who have been victims of sexual violence and (b) the realization of human rights for the LGBTQ community in Rwanda. I will be partnering with several local Rwandan organizations to work on both of these topics.

Not only do I want to inform you of this amazing experience but I'm also asking for your help in getting there. I have to raise $2,300 for tuition costs and $2,500 for airfare, immunizations, and other travel expenses. All donations are tax deductible. I would greatly appreciate your support and prayers in every way!
