About Us!
John and I are Pastors of a fantastic church on the coast of Oregon. We have been on the coast for 6 years and absolutely love it. We've been married for 16 years now and have been unable to have children. We spent the last couple of years going through all the hoops required to adopt through the state but after a committee meeting and lots and lots of waiting, nothing came of it. We were very discouraged and about ready to give up when the opportunity to privately adopt a baby was dropped in our laps. We were ecstatic and instantly knew this was the path we were supposed to take.
Why Adoption?
We both feel like adoption is the way to go for us because it was an important part to each of our childhoods. Johns older brother is adopted and my sister and I were adopted by our parents. I want to give this baby the love that was given to me.
Why so much?
Who knew adopting a baby cost so much right??? As we researched the cost involved with a private adoption, the total kept growing and growing. And believe it or not, our adoption is going to be less expensive than some. Our birth mother is not asking us to pay any medical or living expenses. We are basically paying for her lawyer fees and nothing else. Even though we have a home study through the state, we cannot use it because in Oregon a home study needs to be "licensed" and they do not consider reports through DHS licensed.... lame! Anyways, it adds up. So we've broken our cost down into the following four categories: Home Study, Birth Mothers Lawyer, Our Lawyer and Travel/Misc Expense. Because the birth mother lives in a different state we will be traveling quite a bit for different doctor appointments ect. We want to be involved as much as we possibly can.
Why are we asking for your help?
Whats that saying?
"It takes a whole village to raise a child"
That's definitely the case here because we can't do it without you! Being Pastors we have lived on a fairly modest salary and believe that we should try to stay out of debt as much as possible. So we're asking for your donations to help fund this expensive but worth while journey.
How can I help?
Well first of all you can donate. Every penny helps! Besides that we would ask that you keep us in your prayers. Pray for a healthy pregnancy, that there would be no legal issues or problems and for us as we adjust to a whole new life.
