Giving back to a Hospice Nurse who gives so much!
Spende geschützt
Hello,
my name is Shelia Montgomery.
This fundraiser is not for me but for someone very dear to me, my niece, CHRISTY MOORE. Christy and her family live in Ky. Please continue reading to hear her story!
My name is CHRISTY MOORE, I am 49 years old and have been an LPN for 18 years and a Hospice Nurse for 9 years. On February 2020 I was diagnosed with Bronchitis, prescribed an
antibiotic and sent home.
On February 13, 2020 I woke up feeling confused and dizzy. My husband took me to our Dr and he wanted me to go to the local Hospital, then from there I was transported to another Hospital, put on a ventilator (for 9 days) at UK (university of Ky.)
They diagnosed with DOUBLE PNEUMONIA, SEPSIS, ACUTE RENAl FAILURE (they started me on Dialysis for a week) The life saving medicine they gave me caused, NARCOSIS on both of my feet which became blistered and turning black. My left foot was much worse than the right. My right foot showed damage mostly on the big toe, left foot was damaged almost the whole foot. Both were infected but left foot wasn’t responding to meds, infection could not be controlled. I was put in a medically induced coma, to allow my body to recover.
March 2020, I began rehab which lasted 14 days, but still my left leg was not healing. On June 9th 2020 my left foot and toe on right foot was amputated. I was allowed to return home wheel chair bound, having home care come in, and for the support of my family. Things seemed to be progressing except left leg was showing signs of more infection and Dr. suggested ambition because they did not want infection to continue moving up my leg. I agreed and it was done. November 9th 2020, left leg from below knee was removed.
When I received my, prosthetic I was so excited. I never gave up, I began baby steps, working more and more each day. Then things began to change, pain, swelling, Cellulitis and more infection around bone.
Monday January 11, 2021 I met with my surgeon, Dr. stated there is a tiny hole that’s not healing, causing the cellulitis, swelling snd draining blood. He wanted to take a centimeter of bone off clean it all out.
Thursday 14th 2021,surgery. Now it’s another waiting game, praying this will be a success.
Our daughter is 24, she and our 2 year old grand daughter live with us, 2 years ago she lost a 2nd baby at 7 months, the just a couple of weeks ago she was 14 weeks along and had another miscarriage, while in the hospital they discovered she has CHF, her heart valve is pulling fluid instead of pushing fluid out of heart, so now she is on medication from now on, and has been advised not to try to have anymore it could be a matter of life or death.
My husband and I are raising our 4 grand children: 11 months, 4 years old, 6 years old and our 2 year old daughter. His work has changed his changed his scheduled from 12 hour days / 3-4 days a week with overtime to 8 hour days / 5 days a week with no overtime.
Our insurance pays 100% AFTER our 7,000 co-pay, so we owe the 7,000 for last year and now the 7,000 for this year. The only insurance we have is through my husband, one top of the 14,000 we have out of pocket expense of prosthetic visits, home health visits, rehab, meds, wound clinic visits.
It’s all so overwhelming, please this would be such an answer to our prayers, Thank you for taking time to read my story.
