Helping the hospice in memory of our beloved dad

On Friday 2nd of December, we lost the most gentle soul and the most caring and kind father any child could wish for. Our beloved father, grandfather, and devoted husband, Ronald Antonio Deslandes, (commonly known as Des), sadly passed away with his family by his side. For the last ten months, our dad fought the bravest battle with cancer that we have ever witnessed. Dad’s final few weeks of life were spent at The Pilgrims Hospice Thanet. During these final weeks the hospice treated him with the utmost respect and dignity, making his time with them as comfortable as they could. Not only did they take care of his high levels of pain and suffering, but they also went out of their way to accommodate our family through the most difficult time of our lives. Each and every staff member at the hospice helped to put our family at ease and we knew that our dad was being cared for and looked after in best way possible.

While situated on the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, The Pilgrims Hospice Thanet is an independent hospice and charity that relies on local communities to provide donations in order to run. It is these donations that help the hospice provide the high levels of care and support that loved ones, in similar situations, both need and deserve.

In memory of our dear husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, the Deslandes family would like to raise as much money as we can for The Pilgrims Hospice Thanet, so that it can continue to be a beacon of light when times may be dark for others in similar situations.

We know that this is what dad would have wanted. He was the most generous, loving and caring man that anyone could have wished for in their lives and devoted his entire life to his family and friends. He was a kind and considerate man who would never say no to a family member or friend if a favour was needed, at any time.

Please help us support The Pilgrims Hospice Thanet in memory of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, the kind and caring gentleman Ronald Antonio Deslandes, whose legacy lives on in each and every one of us.
