Jamie’s bike ride for charity

SMILE4WESSEX/SMILE4JAMIE SOUTH COAST COMMUNITY CHALLENGE 8TH ~ 17th JANUARY 2021. The Wessex Neurological Centre is one of the largest and most highly respected neurological centres in the UK, providing acute and specialist care to patients from across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, West Sussex, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands. With your support, Smile4Wessex aims to make it even better by funding cutting-edge equipment and facilities that enhance the range and quality of treatment available, and by sponsoring pioneering research into new treatments for a variety of neurological conditions.Jamie White a 15-year-old fit athletic footballer was tragically struck down with a brain tumour in January 2020 requiring a 11 hour operation to remove it. He was just starting to undertake his recovery when came lockdown 8 weeks later meaning he was unable to resume school again, see his friends and had all his follow up hospital appointments cancelled which impacted his recovery. Throughout these months however, Jamie decided to do his own rehabilitation and remained fit that now he wants to raise awareness of brain tumours in the young. Between 8th to 17th January (the weekend one year anniversary of Jamie’s diagnoses and operation) Jamie is encouraging everyone to get fit for the New Year and in turn to help him raise money for smile4wessex and cardiomyopathy. He would like anyone to undertake any challenges. events/sponsored keep fit/ football matches/ mufti days/ bike rides ect however small. This week will see the cumulation of Jamie himself undertake his biggest challenge to date. 150 mile bike ride over the weekend of 15th to 17th January from Poole Hospital to Southampton Hospital via Yeovil.
