This gofund me was originally created in 2020 during the pandemic. At that time, you donated $4700 to keep the gallery up to date on bills and you helped us continue to provide support through the funding art supplies for artists and provide a safe space for growth through exploration, expression, and community support.
On Saturday, August 6, 2022, around 3am, the murals on the exterior of The Vanderelli Room were defaced by self professed members of the white nationalist hate group, Patriot Front. They spray painted over murals on all sides of the building. They also spray painted their logo and name on the exterior of the building repeatedly, focusing their attention on the Stolen Joy memorial mural on the west side of the building. This is a HATE CRIME!
Please know that all of the money raised from this gofund me from August 6th- forward will be placed in an account specifically for the use of the restoration of the existing art on and around The Vanderelli Room and remaining proceeds will be placed in a fund named the Social Justice Art Fund (SJAF). More details soon.
Please note:
Hate organizations like Patriot Front are well funded and organized and they have members in central Ohio.
They exist.
But so do WE!
