As some of you may have heard, AJ’s wife Amanda passed away April 19th. At the young age of 37, Amanda’s passing has reverberated not only through AJ’s family, but through Gavan-Graham as well. When working at a small business, the lines between work and home tend to blur after a while. You find yourself living vicariously through a co-worker, walking with them through the ups and downs that life will inevitably bring. At a certain point you realize that this random group of strangers that you spend eight hours a day with are no longer strangers, but are family. This family extends outside the four walls of Gavan Graham as well. Our industry is a close knit group of people, where a person is your co-worker on Friday, and your customer on Monday. The only thing that changes is the company name on the business card.
As anyone who has meet AJ can attest to, his energy and drive to help his customers find a solution to their problem is second to none. He would be anywhere you needed him, anytime of day. Whether working side by side with him at Siemens, Square D, Cooper or Gavan, he was the person you called when something needed to be done, and done right. AJ is the first person that contractors call when they have an impossible situation and he is there a 5am the next day walking you through how to make it work.
AJ’s family has been left devastated. Amanda’s passing leaves behind four children, one with special needs, who no longer have their devoted mother to nurture them through the day, to get them to school, to sports practice and to the doctor. AJ has been left with the difficult task of raising four children on his own. Amanda’s month’s long battle in the hospital has left the family emotionally and financially drained and we want to help as much as we possibly can.
We have set up a GoFundMe page to help AJ and his children during this difficult time and we are asking you for any help you can give. We want to help give AJ the resources to give his children what they need, not only what they can afford. Please donate what you can, but just as important, send this to you coworkers, your clients and your suppliers. Anyone who has had the privilege of working with AJ knows that he would give you the shirt off his back to help. We greatly appreciate any help you can give in returning the favor.
