A Better Life For Kristen

My little sister lost her father 10/28/2020. Since our mother's passing in April 2018, he was her primary caregiver. Kristen is coming from a life surrounded by drug abuse, hoarding, and she has suffered severe neglect. While she is 23 years old, her socialization was halted at the age of 9 so she has been stunted developmentally and falls on the autism spectrum. She is currently being medically evaluated and will be living with me until the time comes she is capable of being on her own.

That said, I am a single parent and financially I'm in a tough spot. I'm tapped out having already spent nearly $2,000 to prepare. The room she is going into needed work to habitable due to a roof leak. She's going to need clothing, shoes, food and all things for daily life.

My goal is to make it up to her. I know she will carry the scars of the horrible care she received but I want and need to teach her to live properly and to show her there is a better way. We were only able to salvage 3 boxes of items from the apartment, so we're starting from scratch. I will most definitely be working with social services however that is a lengthy process that can not start until she is out of the hospital, has identification, and has been fully evaluated.

I know that times are hard for everyone right now but if you can, please help me to help her. My baby sister did not deserve this upbringing she was given and my hope is that with this start, I can show her a softer, kinder world.
