Give the gift of a call home to detained migrants!

Allies to End Detention  and our 200+ affiliated volunteers have corresponded with and provided phone and commissary donations to over 700 detainees at ICE detention facilities across the country. The 1500+ letters we have received in response are now archived at the San Diego State University Library and document the hidden stories of hundreds of refugees from human rights hot spots around the world, including Honduras, El Salvador, Venezuela, Brazil, Cameroon, Eritrea and China.  (For New York Times coverage of our work, click here .)

Having a little bit of commissary money means a lot to people locked up thousands of miles from home. Many report deep despair and loneliness; few have access to adequate legal representation, medical care, or food.  But having a little money to spend on a call home at the holidays, basic hygienic items, and a little extra food--ramen is the favorite during winter--can make for bright moments.  (See photos below for commissary price lists.)

Please consider investing a small act of kindness toward these people who are experiencing one of the hardest times of their lives.
