Look Out For Louis

My name is Louis Stibbard, I am 14 years old and live in Newcastle, NSW Australia. I am currently in Year 8 at Merewether High School, and have an all consuming passion for cycling. I also love sprinting and fitness training and have made it through to Regional Athletics this year for 100m and 200m.

I have Type 1 Diabetes, Coeliac Disease and Juvenile Arthritis. But I don't let any of them stop me! What does stop me, is access to finances to pursue the sport I love most - Cyclocross.

I've been forced to compete in B Grade Mens races due to a lack of 'Junior' events in my local area (Newcastle-Sydney) and I was lucky enough to take out 2nd place in my first attempt. The National Championships, held in Adelaide in August 2016, has an Under 15s category. My aim is to compete in this event and work toward becoming an advocate for Type 1 Diabetic athletes who aspire to reaching an elite level in their sport.

To fulfill this dream, I must fundraise money to cover flights, accommodation and vehicle hire (for me and my mother, who must accompany me to manage my diabetes and transport on the ground), freight for my bike, cycling kit, essential racing components, spare parts and the holy grail for all Type 1 Diabetic athletes - a Continuous Glucose Monitor, to help me achieve optimal control for peak performance.
