Dylan's Cardiac Emergency Fund

Donation protected
Dylan Laflamme is a 9 year old boy who suffered from a sudden cardiac arrhythmia (malfunction of the heart's electrical system.) on Wednesday, May 18th 2016. He was running outside of his school to greet his father who was picking him up, and suddenly collapsed. His breathing ceased, and he had no pulse. His life was saved thanks to the quick response from community members and school staff outside of Hillside Elementary in Berlin NH. CPR and an AED was used to revive Dylan and he was quickly transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital by ambulance.  Dylan was med flighted by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon NH, where he spent the next 4 days being monitored and undergoing tests to search for an explanation to why this happened.

Dartmouth determined that it would be best to transport Dylan to Boston Children's Hospital, with the recommendation that he have an internal ICD placed in his heart.  Once there, he underwent more thorough examination and it was determined that there was no structural damage or issues with Dylan's heart, however his Herat was not performing as it should. Sometimes getting to a rate as low as 37.  On Tuesday May 24th, Dylan underwent a surgical procedure to have an ICD and pacemaker placed in his heart.  We, the family are continuously blessed that this has been the outcome of the emergency, as I am told the statistics for children who are actually saved from these emergencies is about 1 in 50.  We are so forever greatful for the people who have been there to help Dylan and support the family for the very traumatic and emotional experience this has been. However, there are many other concerns during a time like this, and financial support is a big one. The extensive medical bills, and genetic testing, along with other hardships that this situation has brought require some assistance. If you are unable to donate, please at least consider sharing our story in an effort to help not just with funds, but a message to all about the importance of CPR and AED certification in all public establishments. If it were not for these things, Dylan would not be here and our lives would be completely upside down.  He is the youngest of 4 siblings, and he is our sun, our moon, and our stars. Thank you so much again for all of the support and prayers we have received.
