‘Lurch’ needs Medical Attention

**Update**. Lurch continues to make progress. He improves with antibiotics, but then will decline. It has been recommended by 4 veterinarians (including specialists) that CT scan with rhinoscopy is the gold standard and is what is needed for a definitive diagnosis. While his trust fund still has money remaining, the medical bills have depleted the amount to $487. The CT scan will be upwards of $3,500. I have raised the amount goal amount to reflect this unfortunate large expense. Paul & I went yesterday to have our chainsaw serviced at a small engine repair shop. I have seen animals in sad health conditions, but this is the worst. This poor cat is a stray and is now hanging around the outside of the shop. I had to ask about him/her. They have nicknamed him ‘Lurch’ due to the eye condition and they said they weren’t even sure it was a cat at first, but is friendly. I approached him and he was so receptive of the head scratches and attention. He followed me every step I took. To be honest, I don’t know what his future holds, but I want to help him. It killed me to leave, but I will be back....this time with carrier for transport. I want to determine how bad his eye condition is; and hopefully treat it. I want to treat his wound/laceration in the back of his ear and on his belly. I want to remove the mats that have developed on his lackluster coat. I want him to eventually be placed in a home where he will not have to fight for his next meal and to be loved. I don’t know how much his medical bills will amount to...but this is my starting point. I am going to bring him to our vet and give this guy with such a sweet disposition a fighting chance. Winter is coming and I can’t leave him outside to suffer.
