Unplanned home birth destroyed our couch

On September 1st at 4:45 am our son Sebastian was born at home on our couch. This was an unplanned home birth. I was having extremely painful contractions 7 minutes apart at about 4:25 am I called the Obgyn to see if I should come in. The doctor called me back and told me I had to wait until contractions were 5 minutes apart for an hour or I’d get sent home. I explained that my 3 year old daughter came extremely fast and it felt like he was getting ready to come. I was still told to wait. Well at about 4:30 am I was in extreme pain and started feeling like I had to push. I woke my poor fiancé Michael up screaming bloody murder saying we need to go now get dressed and to call his mom to get our daughter. Then I started walking to our daughters room to get her ready for her JeJe to pick her up. I made it to the front door and my water broke all over the floor (and the cats) lol. I started screaming again and Mike came running and helped me to the couch. By the time I sat down his head was crowning he was coming and there was no stopping him. I was freaking out saying we can’t have a baby at home and holding my hands over his head. Mike was like he’s coming and you need to move your hands so I can help you haha. I was able to grab his head and Mike caught the rest of him. Thankfully JeJe was on her way to get our daughter and she’s been a nurse for many years. She had Mike get a shoestring (it was new and unused) and scissors and had him clean the scissors with rubbing alcohol while she tied off Sebastians cord. She then had Mike cut the cord and off to the hospital we went. Our couch was destroyed from birth fluids and had to be thrown out. We do have a recliner and a rocking chair but we would like to get a sectional. It needs to be a sectional because our hallway is tiny and it’s impossible to fit a full size couch through it. We are extremely thankful for any donations we get towards a new couch
