KARL SMITH FAMILY

Donation protected

Karl Smith was bucked off his horse on Tuesday the 10th May and took a saddle horn to the groin. He was taken to the E.R they ran some tests and said he was okay and sent him home. Karl complained he couldn't catch his breath and was taken back to the E.R. on the 15th of May. Additional tests and scans  found  a lot of air in diaphram and in his belly. Karl had a tear in his small bowel so doctors had to remove six to eight inches to fix it. Tears like this typically don't show  until up to 36 hours after the injury so that is why it wasn't caught on the initial E.R. visit.  Due to length of time of injury they found a lot of abcesses, vile and fluid. He required sponge packing and they had to leave him open. Additional surgery is required in the near future. He is in the ICU in Twin Falls at St. Lukes. He continues to be on kidney dialysis.
Karl is a self employed horse trainer and will not be able to ride for some time. Most of the horses that were in training have been sent home. Currently there is harldy any source of income for Karl. Please continue to pray for him and his family and make a donation if you are able. Any help will be beneficial.
Updates on his condition are posted regularly on facebook under Kyra Germann.
