Julie's Berlin Opera Academy Fund

Hello! My name is Julie Cowger. I am going to be a Junior Vocal Performance Major at Pepperdine University in the Fall. I have been given an incredible opportunity to participate in the Berlin Opera Academy this summer as the cover for Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen. I am one of the youngest participants and was part of 6% of the applicants that were accepted. I was lucky enough to succeed in being granted this over applicants who have already performed as soloists in such theaters as Teatro alla scala in Milan, Houston Grand Opera, and others, as well as over university professors who have applied to study. I will be joined by an international company and a wildly prestigious faculty. The professional contacts made at the Berlin Opera Academy are essential and can be lifelong. A normal day in the program consists of Movement for Singers, German Language Immersion, Roundtable Discussions and Workshops, Individual Lessons and Coachings, Masterclasses, Production Rehearsals, Opera Gala and Lieder Concerts. This truly is a one in a million opportunity and I would love more than anything to get to further my development as a vocalist and build my career with such wonderful program.
