My mom, Teresa, is my person. She is the one I call to vent to; she is the one I share good news with; she is the person I know will always have my back. Those close to her know her kind heart, honest soul and fun-loving spirit.

Two months ago we found out that a disease mom had for many years has progressed into a terminal blood cancer called Myelofibrosis (MF). MF causes scaring in the bone marrow which prevents the body from making enough red blood cells. We are lucky because my mom has a chance to treat her cancer with a bone marrow transplant.

I created this gofund me to help raise funds for mom while she is undergoing her transplant and after care. Mom has medical bills already accumulating from many specialist visits, medication costs, testing, etc. And she is just getting started. In order to get the bone marrow transplant she will have a 3-4 week hospital stay at Fred Hutchinson and then will be required to live in Seattle for the next 3-4 months while undergoing out-patient care. She and my aunt (who will be her live-in caregiver) will both be on leave from work and renting an apartment. All that time she will still need to pay her mortgage, utility bills, etc. at home.
