The last few months for my father have been tough to say the least! My father is a man who worked six days a week and would work side jobs as an electrician just to pay his bills. Two months ago he started sleeping more and having trouble breathing. We took him for a check up where Dr. Caught signs of v-fib which in non Dr terms means his heart rythem was not right. Once he had more and more test they gave us the worst news "your father is in active heart failure and with out trying to give him some type of intervention he will not live more than six months". Then came the hospital stays !! Where I fought to get him health insurance medicad and won!! He then was told he needed to be transported to Tampa General because his heart was to complicated to be operated on in Naples. He was privately transported by ambulance. Once he arrived more testing began which then lead to his open heart surgery that was preformed on Thursday. It was a very long surgery more work was done then they imagined. It was 12 hours before we were able to see him and when we did nothing can prepare you to see someone you love that way!! The Drs have told us his heart muscle is very damaged and even with preforming his four way bypass and an aditional repair for his heart was only still pumping 5-10%. We are in the waiting game right now to see if he will need the LVAD machine to assess his left side of heart but that is what they call a last resort because once that is placed they can't give you a time frame of life it has been researched that the machine has given a person 9 years. They have also told us my father could benifit from heart transplant but with his severe diabetes and age he would not be a candidate. He is currently on a breathing machine,13 medications , and is getting blood. Our dad has the funniest personality and if he can find a way to turn a sentence into a funny joke he does. He's 61 and is to young to be faced with this obsitscle!! My family has been supporting his bills for him because he would do it for us In a minute and has when he has extra. It's getting tuff for us trying to pay our mortgage and his rent without one of ours having to be late. His land lord of five years only concern is his rent check my dad has never been late paying rent in five years this is his first month ever. He is currently awaiting disability. I somewhat understand it's his property and the owner needs it paid but asking someone who is in an induced coma to pack up in two weeks is unreal!! We are not people who ask for hand outs!! My father bust his butt to make his income and I just wish I could make this worry go away!! I'm asking a favor friends and family if you can help please!!! I also ask everyone to keep praying he is not out of the woods and all the news we have gotten today was he's just doing ok but as they tell us to take it an hour at a time!!! I thank everyone who has already outreached to give us their love and support he has so many people that love him I can't wait to show him all the kind words people have left!!! Say a huge prayer for our daddy please!!Thank you everyone he is a truly loved man ( as I cry as Write this to say he has Huge prayer chain is an understatement) Love you Dad!!
