Help Mel and her children move and feel safe

Donation protected
So as many of you know, my friend Mel and her children were the victim to the nightmare of an attempted abduction that took place in the west end of Ottawa on Mother’s Day. A woman from a local mom group offered a gift basket and when she came to drop it off my friend excitedly opened her door thinking she would have a little pick me up for the day. Unfortunately instead, she had a full can of bear mace emptied into her face and instantly couldn’t see and could barely breathe! At this time she was trying to prevent this woman from entering her home, during which her c section scar ripped back open. She was thrown to the ground and this woman ran in and grabbed her week old baby boy and took off. My friends daughter, who is disabled and not mobile, was also maced in the process and was struggling to breathe. My friend tried her best, but not being able to see or breathe wasn’t able to safely take her so. Out of the attackers atms. She began screaming for help and begging this woman not to hurt her newborn son. Luckily some neighbours heard the commotion and chased this woman down, safely got the baby back from her, and detained here until the police arrived shortly after. This was a well planned attack, and unfortunately a real life, extremely traumatizing nightmare from which my friend and her children will always be affected for the rest of their lives. My friend is a loving single mother, who would do anything to help anyone, she is never not there if you need her, and she does a kick ass job at raising both of her children. She is terrified to return home after this event. Her father isn’t in the picture and her mother passed away years ago, so she doesn’t have her own family to help her in this horrible time. I know Mother’s Day was always hard for her, and I know for sure, she will never be able to get this unfortunate event to stop re playing in her mind. She is so happy that people were there to help save her baby boy and that her daughter was taken out of the home and cleaned up so she was able to breathe normally again. All I can do in this difficult time is be there for my friend and help her in any way I am able to. I wanted to make this GoFundMe for her and her children so they can raise some funds to move to a new place, hire packers and movers so none of them need to return, and to be able to purchase some cameras/security system for their new place. I know this is hard to understand how and why it’s happened, and it’s almost unbelievable because you don’t often here of stuff like this in real life, but this is my poor friends reality. My heart is broken for her and her children. I know these times are tough for everyone, but if everybody could donate even a few dollars, and share this post, it would hold be extremely helpful, very appreciated, and life changing for my friend and her children and their future. Everybody deserves a safe place to lay their head at night. And nobody deserves to live in fear. I’m truly hopeful that the Ottawa community and surrounding areas can come together and help this family see that there’s still more good than bad out there. That they’re not alone and have everybody standing in their corner and supporting them through this insanity. Most importantly to help keep them safe, and o let them start the journey of trying to recover from this real life nightmare they had to live through. Thank you in advance to anybody who is able to help, in whichever way they can. And please everybody. Stay safe!
