Emergency Escape Fund

My name is Jeanette and I'm setting up this account on behalf of a friend who is like a sister to me.

She is in a living situation right now that is detrimental to her health and she needs to move.  Immediately.  

Unfortunately, between deposits and the cost of living in the city where she lives, she is unable to leave right now.  She can't even get away to stay with friends away from the situation (we are not in the same town) because of the money needed.  This means staying even longer in an environment which is unsafe and is literally damaging her state of mental health.  

October is the month where we recognize domestic violence awareness; to try to prevent what usually goes on "behind closed doors".  DV can include emotional abuse, which can be just as or even more damaging to someone who is already struggling with depression and anxiety.

Money can be tight, especially with holidays around the corner, but any amount you can give would make a huge difference in her being able to escape...temporarily or forever.   These funds would be used to help pay a deposit on a new apartment, hire a moving van and help pay utility deposits, and stay in temporary lodging as needed.

As a DV survivor myself, and in honor of so many others who deal with this every day, I am asking for anything you can spare to help my friend get out and be healthy.
