Orphans and victims of human trafficking

Donation protected
This page is dedicated to fundraising for Thai orphans and victims of human trafficking.
Each year, there are roughly 2.5 million victims of human trafficking around the world, involving 127 countries and generating an industry worth $42.5 billion. The most common type of human trafficking is sex trafficking, otherwise known as sexual slavery, victims of which are typically women and young girls. In fact, in South-East Asia alone, including Thailand, 300,000 of these victims are trafficked annually, including 45,000 children under the age of 18.
The Development and Education Programme for Daughters and Communities (DEPDC) is a non-government organisation based in northern Thailand that specialises in protecting those most at risk of human trafficking, usually orphans and children from neglectful homes, whose parents can often be desperately poor, drug-addicted, and aggressively violent. Although it also gives all possible assistance to at risk adults and does what it can to rescue and rehabilitate the victims presently ensnared, it has extremely limited funding and can only do what it has the time and resources to pursue.
I and some fellow volunteers recently spent a month working in Thailand, two weeks of which was with DEPDC, who I am going back to work with for another six months later this year, starting in either June or July. While DEPDC needs a lot of money to achieve all of its goals, every small bit counts, helping to provide kids with education, food, clean water, working bathrooms, medicine, homes, and so on. And before I go back, I want to try and raise $2,000 to give directly to the organisation on behalf of myself and anyone interested in donating.
If you would like to donate, please don't hesitate, because any amount will be accepted and appreciated. I would also like people's details so I, the organisation and the kids are able to personally thank you for your generosity. None of the donations will go to my personal expenses, which I'll completely cover myself.
$2,000 can go a long way in the right hands, especially in Thailand. This can be the difference between being able to accommodate another orphan, who would otherwise have to remain on the street. It can be the difference between rescuing a victim from human trafficking and being able to provide them with basic food and shelter for a short time or a long time. It can be the difference between sending a child to school and giving them a chance to improve their lives, or not being able and seeing that child become a victim of trafficking, a drug addict, a prostitute, a gang member, or dead. And if you choose, this is the kind of difference you can directly make to the lives of innocent victims.
