To our friends and neighbors, near and far,
Our amazing, strong, and vibrant MS 136 community has been hit hard by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Some of our families have lost loved ones. They and many others have also suffered job loss, or have fallen victim to this virus themselves. Our Title I school is home to a hard-working community –who even in the best of times may live paycheck to paycheck—and today those families are struggling to meet basic needs. As always, MS 136's primary goal is to support and uplift our students and families, and at this time our community’s greatest need is food security.
After consulting with the school administration about the health and welfare of the student body, we recently made the decision to help the families by making an emergency aid fund to buy groceries and/or grocery gift cards for families in need. Working with the school community, we have been able to support more than twenty families to date, but as the crisis in our community will continue as the weeks go on, the level of need is far greater than what the schools able to address with these funds.
On behalf of the MS 136 community, we are asking those who can to support our families through this crisis by making a donation to this GoFundMe page. All funds will be used for the continued purchase and distribution of groceries and/or grocery gift cards to our MS 136 families who are most in need.
