My name is Travis Zigler and I am an optometrist in central Ohio. My wife, Jenna Zigler (also an optometrist) and I are making a trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica from October 11 through October 21, 2013 to give eye exams and glasses to hundreds of individuals that cannot afford nor obtain eye care. Every dollar received will be donated directly to the iCare Project to help fund these glasses and exams.

iCare Project

An international humanitarian eye care project of Great Shape! Inc. in collaboration with our essential partners: VOSH International, Sandals Foundation, Lions Club and the people of Jamaica.

Overview

iCare is a life changing program that harnesses the compassion and expertise of humanitarian eye care professionals by sending them to Jamaica to give the gift of sight to thousands who can't even afford a pair of reading glasses.

Take Ms. Wallace, the 80 year old lady who came into our clinic. After a full exam and being fitted with a donated pair of prescription glasses, tears rolled down her cheeks. For the first time in 10 years, she was able to read. As they say in Jamaica, it is all about "One Love!"

In the areas we work there are no publicly available optometrists, and only two ophthalmologists for over ½ million people. The numbers are staggering. This is why our services are so greatly needed. Most of our patients come from very low income rural communities and almost none of them have ever been to an eye doctor.
