Flores Family

Hi we’re the Flores family and back in 2017 our dad was detained by ICE agents while he was working in Everette, WA after motel 6 employees shared his information with these agents illegally. He was held in the Northwest detention center in Tacoma, WA for 6 months, where we would drive 2 hours from Vancouver, WA where we used to live to talk to him every weekend until he was deported on August 28th to Mexico city. Ever since then we’ve been struggling with money and housing because our dad was the main earner, we did have our own business but eventually we had to end it because my mom couldn’t keep up with it even though all of us kids tried and helped her whenever we could. In June of 2018 we were evicted from our old home because we couldn’t afford the rent anymore and one of my very close friends helped us so much by letting our whole family into her home where we stayed for about a month and a half until we moved to San Diego in August. Our dad was in Puerto Vallarta, his hometown, but from there he moved up to Tijuana so we could be closer and we see him a lot more now. Even then we still had money problems and for the first year, until August of 2019 a few months ago, we were homeless and we stayed in hotels with vouchers from programs and we lived in Tijuana with my dad for a while. Our mom has a job that it’s her last day at tomorrow because she volunteers there but they pay her from the organization that helped her find it but they couldn’t do that for more than 9 months and so now we’re worrying about how we’re gonna pay for the rent every month because with just our older sisters job it isn’t enough to cover every month plus bills. It’s been a very long heartbreaking road to where we’re at now and we’re just now starting to settle in so having to move again would be very hard on us, the kids especially.
