Angel Rios is a wrestler from Valley High School. Many of you may know her name, or recognize her for her wrestling accomplishments over her career. She won the Pan American championship in 2017 in Panama. Recently in February of 2019 she became the first female wrestler, wrestling in the boys division, to win a Colorado Regional tournament. A week later she made history again at the Colorado High School State 2018-2019 tournament at the Pepsi Center, becoming the first female wrestler to make the podium with a 4th place finish! Angel came into this 2019-2020 season ranked #1 in the 106 pound weight class in 3A. Within the last month or so Angel, has been in and out of the hospital with what was a case of severe antibiotic serum poisoning. This then lead to a 5th cranial pinched nerve in her brain. This nerve controls facial movements and other motor functions such as chewing, smiling, talking and taste. It has also been causing other issues with her ability to walk and stand up. We know that medical costs can be very expensive so we want to do everything we can to help this family. We are looking for donations for her and her family in hopes that we can relieve some stress from them. Angel will be missed by many this wrestling season. It is greatly appreciated from those that are able to donate, anything helps. Please keep Angel and her family in your thoughts and prayers in hopes she makes a full recovery!
