Back Surgery

Deborah Windham is a wonderful member of our small community of Talkeetna, Alaska.  She is too young for medicare and falls through the cracks on every other possibility for health insurance.  She has been fighting back pain due to stenosis and vertebrae problems for years and is at the end of her rope coping with pain.  Deborah is a fun loving, caring, talented lady who lives a minimal life style and works like a dog making beds, cleaning bathrooms, and managing a very small inn here.  She is in so much pain that she often has to hire someone at her own expense to do some of the work.  I want to see her be able to get the back surgery she needs to get back on her feet.  She is a much beloved piano teacher, my accompanist, and a supportive community member who serves on the board of the Historical Society, gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, is loyal, charismatic, and just happens not to be eligible for any help from anyone for the surgery fee.  Deborah does wonderful "pay it forward" type things for people all the time.  If I had the money, I would pay for it myself.  $10,000 is less than half of the surgery fee but is what is necessary for her to get the surgery scheduled.  For the rest, she will set up payments with the provider and pay what she can for as long as it takes.  She is not one to step away from her obligations, she just needs a hand to get her life back.  Chronic pain does terrible things.  Anyway, if you have any what I call "pocket lint": $5, $10 that you can spare to bring another human back to this world, I thank you.  Each and every one who contributes will be notified if I have your contact information, on Deborah's progress.  Thank you.
