Help Lauren Continue To Battle Cancer
Donation protected
Lauren has had her fair share of battles when it comes to health. Just this past year she began the grueling process of IVF to have a baby and beat infertility. Everything was going great. At about 17 weeks pregnant, a few tests were run to find out that Lauren’s cancer - Pheochromocytoma had returned in multiple places, this time inoperable.
After waiting to have her baby, Mila - early at 35 weeks so Lauren’s body would have a lesser risk of stroking out during labor Lauren got to enjoy a couple months at hoe before needing to plan doctors visits, a new chemotherapy plan that they only will do in Portland, Oregon and on top of all of that - stay in isolation from the public as well as additional time isolated from baby Mila. This is heart breaking for her. Lauren always focuses on the light at the end of the tunnel and doesn’t need any additional stress to add to everything else on her plate. With having to be away from her family and lengthened stay away from Mila, now she is worried about how to afford the travel - which will be 4 times round trip to Portland, hotel stays during the first two trips, transportation and just the daily comforts of not being able to be home in her own bed or snuggle her newborn baby. In addition to the travel - this new form of chemotherapy is $600,000. Luckily her insurance will cover a large portion of that, however Lauren will still have a very large out of pocket expense to pay for that will only be added on to when next year begins and her $3500 deductible begins all over, shortly followed by the second round of chemo.
Lauren has been on disability during this time and although that time off has helped her in being able to be home and rest or available to travel to appointments whenever needed, her income has dipped. I feel like we need to do whatever we can to take some of the stress off from her shoulders. She has never asked for anything in the past and has battled this cancer head on the last 5 times and beat it. Let’s come together and not let her beat this alone.
