Help a dog shelter find a home.

Donation protected
Hi, I am Rylee, founder of Rylee’s Dog Shelter and The Panda Foundation. We are in the early start-up stages of our non-profit and looking for our permanent home.

Background

I am 29 years old female with autism and other mental disabilities. I have always found relief in life with the dogs in my family. With my disabilities and being on the autism spectrum, life has not been easy for me at all. I have been bullied, punched in the face and more. Life was getting so bad I almost committed suicide 3 times in my adult life. Then I went to a dog shelter which always brings me peace. I saw this dog named Panda that was rescued from another shelter that was a kill shelter. We immediately made a connection and I decided to adopt her. Ever since then she has looked out for me when feeling down, having anxiety attacks, and she has even helped me become more social and interact with people, which at times can be hard do to my autism. She has been a true blessing in my life and I honestly don’t know where I would be today without her. Also, because of Panda, I was able to even get off my depression medications which is a huge step. She has made my quality of life safer, enjoyable, and calmer.

So why am I starting a dog shelter?

- I am starting a shelter to improve dogs’ lives and at the same time to improve people’s lives as well. Our goal is to impact dogs and people everywhere in the US.

670,000 dogs that get euthanized every year is unacceptable.

- The shelter would focus on reducing that number by adopting dogs out of the kill shelters and reducing the number of kill shelters.

Dog’s don’t belong in little kennels just waiting to be adopted.

- It has been shown that dogs can suffer from depression, anxiety, beavertail issues, and health issues by just being in a kennel and just waiting to be adopted. That just wrong. Our shelter would have acres of land for dogs to free roam at all times and just be dogs. which results in happier healthier dogs.

An outreach program to encourage adoption in shelters.

- Overcrowding shelters is a huge issue in the US. With overcrowding issues, animals will get euthanized in kill shelters and more animals become homeless and just on the streets. With encouraging adoption in shelters and discourage the buying dogs from private breeders. this will help reduce the number of dogs that get euthanized and will reduce the number of homeless animals altogether.

Service dogs and ESA animals are so expensive.

- Our shelter would have a training facility that would train select dogs to be Service Dogs and ESA dogs. And we would cater to the less fortunate people that may be in need of one. ESA animals/therapy animals help people with mental disabilities such as depression, anxiety, autism and more. There are studies people with ESA animals tend to have fewer anxiety attacks and at times people are able to get off their meds and be able to manage it on there own with their ESA animal. People that suffer from depression have shown a significant amount of improvement and fewer suicidal tendencies with having an ESA animal. Research from the University of Lincoln found that children with autism experience fewer meltdowns in the presence of a pet dog and their parents stress levels are significantly lowered, but we also see that dogs can make a difference to confidence levels, help reduce anxiety, improve communication and help families do more together. Service Dogs can mean life or death for some people. But some people that are most in need of one can’t simply afford one. Service Dogs can help people with, seizures, walking issues, hearing and seeing impaired and more.

The Panda Foundation.

You may be asking why a shelter would have a foundation. Well, my friends, if you have read this far, you can see we wouldn’t be just an ordinary shelter. The Panda Foundation would be specifically to rescue dogs that are in danger in high-kill shelters. In addition, the foundation would help for medical bills for families and their dogs for the unexpected, so they don’t have to keep worrying and knowing that their furry friend is going to be well taken care of. Also, it would help dogs themselves in need for those moments where a dog was abused and hurt and was rescued and needs a bunch of medical attention.

What do your donations go towards?

Your donations would help us find a place call home for our adoptable furry friends. And help us make a difference in the world.

Please donate and share. Let us all help improve the dog's lives and people. And most importantly and help improve the lives of people with disabilities.

If you have any other questions. Please feel free to contact us.
