Peter’s Immunotherapy

Peter’s journey started with a very suspicious stomach ache in July 2018. What we originally thought was a virus, potentially helicobacter pylori was something much worse.
In August 2018, Peter, who is 58, was diagnosed with Stage IV Stomach Cancer which was caught in its earliest possible stage, and undertook first in nine initial rounds of chemotherapy. We had no idea how uncontainable the cancer would become.
After his initial nine rounds of Chemotherapy, Peter was told via a PET scan that while there was no spread in the cancer outside of the stomach lining, his condition was terminal. There were no chances of radiation therapy, and no operation. All that he could do is to continue Chemotherapy for the best quality of life.
At Albany General Hospital, Peter was told about trials that were happening for Immunotherapy Treatment and that he would be a good candidate to join the trial.
Peter’s health has deteriorated for several month to such an extent that he now has a zimmerframe to get out of bed or a chair.
These treatments aren’t covered by the Government for his type of cancer. His Health fund doesn’t cover any of the $60,000 overall expense for the treatment either.
As a family we are aware that these treatments could improve Peter’s situation.
It is not easy asking for help, particularly financial help, but as we have used our family savings, we would be very very grateful to anyone who would like to help.
