Trip to Volunteer in Kenya
Hello! I hope this letter finds you and your family well. I am now in my second year of college studying psychology at Lee University. I love this school and the Christian foundation it stands on. Lee has a "Global Perspectives" program that requires students to go on an international trip. I have always had a desire to travel to Africa and an opportunity has presented itself for me to go to Kenya and work in an orphanage.
On May 13th, I will be departing with my close friend, Caitlyn Milheron, on a long plane ride to Nairobi. The program is called "Volunteer HQ." They aid thousands of people every year through volunteer efforts abroad. Due to the high incidences of poverty and illness, orphanages in Kenya host anywhere between 50-300 children at a time with a consistently high demand for volunteer assistance. We will be aiding the orphanages in cooking, cleaning, washing, caring, feeding, playing with, and entertaining the children.
While I am thrilled about the cultural experience that will be gained from our journey, I am even more excited about God's leading us to these children. Volunteer HQ, which will place Caitlyn and I with a host family who will house, feed and allow us to attend their church services. During our twenty-one day experience, I know God will present opportunities for us to show the Kenyan people His love and mercy.
With the support of this program, I am able to keep the cost of accommodations low, however travel expenses are extremely high. I have taken a weekend job and any possible opportunities to earn and save money, but I cannot accomplish this alone. I humbly ask you and your family for any support you are able to offer. I need both prayer and financial backing. The entire trip will cost us each $3000- any money contributed above this goal will go towards supplies for the orphanages.
If you would like to support my trip financially, there are two options: 1) Mail a check made out to "Tori Stutzman" (message me for address), or 2) donate here at http://www.gofundme.com/1n1hh4?pc=fb_cr. I truly appreciate anyway you can support this adventure. I know God is going to do great things.
Thank you so much for your time and support and I appreciate any way you are able to help out!
