Trying to help those that fought for all of us
Thank you for stopping by my donation/challenge page. I am
attempting the World's Toughest Mudder on Nov 17th in New Jersey and looking to
raise funds to do so. Half of everything donated will be donated to the Wounded
Warrior Project through Tough Mudder (www.toughmudder.com).
If you have never heard of Tough Mudder before, it is normally
an 8-12 mile challenge race through mud, obstacles, fire and electricity (OUCH!).
What makes this race different is that it is a 24hr race to get
as many laps as you can in and the only way that you technically finish is by
doing the same number of laps as the winner...thanks for the catch Big Mudder.
Also, unlike the past Mudder's I have run, this will be solo. I have never ran
over 12 miles in a day before so this should be interesting. My goal is 7 laps
(last year's winner).
The reason I am trying to raise funds is the race is not cheap
and the extras that it will take to complete the race (dry suit, lots of socks,
night gear, and all the other things a race needs) really adds up fast. If it
was up to me, I would be fine with shoes and shorts but Tough Mudder takes
safety very serious in this race and I will actually have to go through a medical
exam after a certain amount of lapse to be cleared to start another.
Another reason for the fund raising is coming from a family
strongly tied to the military, I try to do my part to help them and the money
raised that I can donate will go towards the Wounded Warrior Project which
helps disabled soldiers. They have sacrificed a lot so the least I can do is
sacrifice a day of pain to try and help.
Please do not feel obligated but if you can, anything is
appreciated.
Thank you,
Garrett
