STONEWALL Vets Assn. 1969 Stonewall Car

Donation protected
The STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans' Association ("SVA") of the historic 1969 Stonewall Rebellion in New York City owns the famous blue 1969 Cadillac convertiblewhich is also known as the "Stonewall Car".  It was so named by the people of Christopher Street who knew the car and subsequent to the Stonewall Uprising would yell out:  "Look, there's the Stonewall car!"  The S.V.A. is comprised of the legendary participants in the 5-night Stonewall uprising and the Stonewall Club raids by the police.  On Friday night, June 27th, 1969, at the outset of the civil rights rebellion at The Stonewall Club in NYC, the New York City Police Department (NYCPD) illegally impounded this car and held it hostage for three nights and two days at the old Sixth Precinct near the Hudson River.  This well-preserved, eye-catching car is a rolling symbol of Gay history, Gay rights, Gay unity and Gay pride!  But the car, of course, is not Gay -- or Transgender!

The 1969 convertible has been featured in several "Canyon of Heroes" parades celebrating the New York Yankees as baseball world champions.  The car has proudly led the "Parade of Cadillacs" sponsored by General Motors in Manhattan, NY.  The famous vehicle is mostly seen in "Gay Pride Parades".  Annually, the car and veterans of the Stonewall Uprising are featured as 'le grand finale' of the New York City Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Parade", the first, the largest and the best GLBT parade in the World!  The S.V.A. owns, manages, garages, maintains and insures the valuable 1969 "Stonewall Car"!
