I'm Isabelle Cole, a sophomore at Salve Regina University studying social work. I founded 13 Reasons to Fly five years ago while in inpatient treatment for mental health. 13 Reasons to Fly aims to flip the script on popular netflix series "Thirteen Reasons Why" by focusing on reasons to live, and hold onto hope. Our mission is to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness by talking about it with others in hope oriented settings. We also hope to advocate for mental health care reform and equitable access to mental health care resources.
13 Reasons to Fly believes in the power of young people, and wishes to uplift the stories and strength in each person.
Since it's founding in 2017, we have developed booklets for educators and professionals, a 13 Reasons to Fly Short Film, and are developing a Mental Health Curriculum for the adolescent population.
