Hey! My name is Nabeel, also known as The Fitness Surgeon.
I have decided to take part in Cardiff's 10km run for charity on Sunday 2nd September.
The money will be raised for The Edhi Foundation.
Voluntary work being an essential requirement to apply to medical school, made me explore various charitable organisations during my visit to Pakistan in 2011.
This was when I first came across the great humanitarian and philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi. I was honoured to visit one of the many centres he went on to successfully set up. This centre was made up of numerous departments ranging from an orphanage for kids that had no parents or were not wanted, to a drug rehabilitation centre for drug addicts. It was an all inclusive centre that provided food, shelter, clothing, medical treatment, education and other necessities. I was surprised and impressed with his work, which lead me to learn further about his selfless acts of charity. I got this opportunity whilst coming to the end of my visit when one of the volunteers gifted me a book of Abdul Sattar Edhi's Autobiography.
This lead me to discover that Edhi dedicated his entire life in the service of mankind, regardless of race or religion. He preached that humanity is what unites all of us and that is of utmost importance. In 1951 he set up a small pharmacy/dispensary in a small town, and since then he has spread a network along the length and breadth of pakistan and extended his services internationally.
Edhi foundation is now one of the biggest welfare organisations in the world.
His example inspired me to first and foremost make a personal revolution to serve people, so we can collectively help the less fortunate.
Please donate whatever you can because every penny counts.
*Disclaimer* The money raised will be recieved directly by me. I will then make a video to show you guys exactly how and where the money is spent. 100% of the money donated will be used for Edhi foundation.
Thank you very much.
May you all be rewarded for your donations :)
