On September 1st Hurricane Dorian had hit The Bahamas as a category 5 and devastated both Abaco and Grand Bahama. Since the catastrophe, there has been an outpour of support from people locally and around the world springing into action and constantly contact us seeking ways in which they can donate and help to rebuild our islands. Initially, BN opted to allow the government and other entities to cover funding while we keep you all informed of the hurricane and the aftermath. However, this notion shifted after receiving countless claims of donations being stopped by authorities. We realized that we need to intervene to receive as much assistance for our fellow Bahamians as possible.
Our team has been meeting daily to discuss ways that we can come together to help rebuild Abaco and Grand Bahama. We have decided that we will focus on rebuilding homes on both islands. We promise accountability in our fund for families that have lost their homes and all of their posessions during Hurricane Dorian.
We have built the $5 dollar fund raising donation to help rebuild homes for persons that have lost everything in the storm and didnt have insurance for the homes that they lived in. For our fund we are making a promise to show full transparency of every dollar collected and spent. BN is the most popular news outlet in the Bahamas for modern news broadcasting through social media. Our facebook page reaches more than 1 million people on a monthly basis and some months we reach up to 3 million persons. We are asking for a donation of only $5 dollar from each of our viewers so that we can begin reconstructing homes on both Islands. For years, we have been a trusted organization for telling factual news to The Bahamas and Bahamian people. Now, we want to prove that we are willing to go the extra mile and help them in their time of need but to do so we need each and everyone to lend a helping hand of $5 donation. Together in volume we can meet our goal and build Grand Bahama and Abaco back one block at a time.
Both islands have faced more than 3 billion dollars worth of damages. This is why we are lending our services of outreach to assist with rebuilding our country. Some homes and buildings destroyed were covered by insurance but many were not. This is where the $5 fund donation comes in. BN has secured contractors, construction workers and a construction company to rebuild the homes of persons who simply cant in no way financially rebuild their homes. Together we can rebuild both islands $5 dollar at a time.
We promise transparency and accountability for every dollar. We have our trust and diginity on the line that has taken us years to build in the hearts and minds of Bahamians. We have never failed our people then and we will not fail them now. To jeapordize our integrity is not in our nature as gaining the trust of our people has taken us years to accomplish and it is impossible to redo.
To this end we are asking for the smallest amount from each person to reapprove our trust with everyone once again so that we may continue rebuilding our country back to what it was.
Trust us in this first $5 fund and hold our feet to the fire to ensure we do as we promised so that we can prove our value for the many other $5 donation funds we create to rebuild our country.
Thank you all always.
Mickoby Williams who is a family member of our BN agents and US citizen. He will withdraw funds to their personal bank account and transfer funds from there to us by wire transfer to our personal bank account in the Bahamas. Where we will then begin purchasing materials from local vendors such as Kellys and JBR to have shipped via mailboat to Grand Bahama and Abaco to begin repairs on selected homes majorly affected by the storm, starting with the Hudson Estate community.
